SSI Sidemount Course
Sidemount Perfect Buoyancy & Trim (SSI Specialty)
Master your balance with two tanks for ultimate efficiency, streamline, and comfort.
Switching to sidemount offers incredible freedom of movement, but it completely changes your center of gravity. This specialized course is tailored specifically for sidemount divers who want to lock in a flawless horizontal trim, master cylinder management, and achieve effortless control.
Why Take This Course?
Flawless Horizontal Trim: Align your cylinders and body perfectly to slice through the water with maximum hydrodynamics.
Dynamic Cylinder Management: Learn how to seamlessly adjust your clips and bungees as your tanks become lighter throughout the dive.
Maximize Air & Energy: Eliminate the “seahorse” position, reduce drag, and significantly extend your bottom time.
Total Stability: Achieve rock-solid hovering, making task-loading, valve drills, or underwater photography effortless.
What You’ll Learn:
Sidemount Weight Distribution: Fine-tuning weight placement (spine, harness, or hips) for optimal center of gravity.
In-Water Rig Tuning: Adjusting bungees and sliding D-rings on the fly to keep tanks perfectly parallel to your body.
Advanced Breath Control: Mastering micro-buoyancy adjustments with a different wing profile and two gas sources.
Specialized Propulsion: Intro or refinement of the Frog Kick, Back Kick, and Helicopter Turn to maneuver precisely without kicking up silt.
Course Details:
Format: Targeted E-Learning + 2 intensive open water trim & buoyancy sessions.
Prerequisites: Open Water Diver

SSI Independent Diving Specialty
Become your own buddy. Master self-reliance, redundant systems, and ultimate underwater freedom.
Independent diving isn’t simply about diving alone—it’s about being so highly skilled, prepared, and properly equipped that you are entirely self-sufficient. This elite course transforms your approach to safety, turning you into a completely autonomous diver who can handle any situation without relying on a buddy.
Why Take This Course?
Absolute Self-Reliance: Learn to manage any in-water emergency completely on your own.
The Perfect Tool for Photographers: Take your time framing shots without the pressure of keeping up with a group or an impatient buddy.
The Ultimate Safety Margin: Even when diving with others, this course makes you an infinitely safer, more reliable dive partner.
Mental Toughness: Develop the sharp focus and situational awareness required to handle stress in isolation.
The Ultimate Setup: Why We Recommend Sidemount First
True independent diving requires a completely redundant gas supply. While you can use a basic pony bottle, we highly recommend taking our Sidemount Diver course prior to this specialty.
Diving Independent in a Sidemount configuration gives you two entirely separate, high-capacity cylinders right at your sides. You retain full visibility and easy physical access to both valves and regulators, making emergency management smoother, cleaner, and incredibly streamlined.
What You’ll Learn:
Managing Redundant Systems: Managing two independent gas sources efficiently under pressure.
Advanced Gas Planning: Precise air consumption (SAC rate) calculation and strict gas management (Rule of Thirds/Quarters).
Solo Emergency Protocols: Handling regulator free-flows, BCD failures, and out-of-air scenarios completely on your own.
Precision Navigation: Mastering compass work and natural navigation to always find your exit point without assistance.
Course Details:
Format: Deep-dive E-Learning + targeted briefings + 2 intensive open water training dives.
Prerequisites: 18+ years old, Advanced Adventurer (or equivalent), and a minimum of 100 logged dives. (Sidemount certification strongly recommended).
Stop relying on a buddy line. Take absolute control of your diving safety in 1–2 days.
